The conference ‘REDISCOVERING THE HESS FAMILY GUESTBOOKS:

Art, politics and social justice then and now’ was a true act of internationalism, bringing together the Foundation along with Münzenberg Forum, Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung and the Foundation's publishers Manifesto Press. Speakers included Hans Hess's daughter Anita Halpin, past director of the Bauhaus Dr Annemarie Jaeggi, Prof. Dr Henry Keazor, Conrad Landin, Nick Wright, Dr Thomas Flierl and Dr. Lucy Burke. Our press partners for the day included The Morning Star, Junge Welt, Neues Deutschland and Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research.

Hans Hess Returns to Berlin

At a packed conference held at the wonderful FMP1 conference centre in Berlin - named after the great leader of German socialism Franz Mehring - the Hans Hess Foundation brought together scholars and activists from Germany and Britain to study the Hess family guestbooks.
